Israel With Alex is Go!
I'm excited to launch the Israel with Alex blog. Here you'll be able to find updates about my tours, as well as stories about tourism and culture in Israel. This first post is about a fascinating story in Al-Monitor about the Israel Trail, a 1,000 kilometer walking route from Mount Hermon in the north to the Red Sea coast. It opened twenty years ago, and thousands of people have already walked the entire way. One hiker said: "The trip changed my life. It redefined me. I walked a thousand kilometers all alone. I feel that I am capable of doing many other things now." The "trail angels" - volunteers who live along the trail and offer hikes hospitality - also get a deserved mention. National Geographic has listed the Israel Trail among one of the world's 20 most highly recommended treks. The great thing about it is that you don't need to do it all in one go - it's perfectly possible to do a day or two at a time, or join one of the annual treks organized by Walk About Love. If you're interested in doing the Israel Trail with me, please be in touch!
